NY Water Taxi offers temporary Staten Island Ferries

Following Sandy, The New York City Department of Transportation has announced the NY Water Taxi to run between Staten Island and Manhattan. It will be a temporary ferry route, beginning on Monday and ending in 8 weeks from now.

Temporary NY water taxi ferry schedule

Starting on Monday 26th of November, the New York Water Taxi will depart six times between 6.30 a.m. and 9 a.m. from Staten Island’s Great Kills Park. The temporary ferries will arrive at Pier 11 at Wall Street and continuing on to 35th Street in Midtown. Return is due six times in the afternoon, leaving every half hour between 5:40 p.m. and 8:10 p.m.
What about the fare?
One-way fare is priced at reasonable $US 2 (1.25 GBP).

Purpose: NY Water Taxi aim to help some of the people in the hardest hit neighbourhoods following Sandy. Many are still having problems with destroyed cars and lack of other types of transport after the storm.
