New York Rangers Preferred Players in NHL Draft

The NHL draft news is the biggest talk among New York sport fans today. 2012 marks the 50th NHL draft and the ceremony was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

New York Rangers have selected their chosen ice-hockey players for the up-coming seasons and NY.co.uk are here with all the details.

-Countries: 2 American, 2 Swedes and 1 Danish player.

What is NHL draft anyway?

It’s an opportunity for North American ice hockey clubs to pick new and upcoming stars; players born between January 1, 1992, and September 14, 1994.

Which players did New York Rangers select?

The first one to be selected by New York Rangers was Brady Skjei, an American ice hockey player who skated in 60 games with U.S. National Under-18 Team previous season. He managed to do 4 goals, 19 assist during the last season.

New York born Cristoval Nieves from Kent School was their first choice on the 2nd day of the draft. Swedish Calle Andersson from Farjestad’s junior team, playing in the SuperElite league was Rangers 4th pick, while another Swede, Andersson from Malmo, was their 5th choice. Finally, Danish born forward Thomas Spelling was chosen in the fifth round of the 50th NHL draft.

Note: The most wanted players in the 2012 NHL draft were Ryan Murray, Nail Yakupov and Alex Galchenyuk.
