New York seldom experience tornadoes, but yesterday was an exception. Two particular boroughs of New York were hit with winds up to 100 mph; Brooklyn and Queens.

Advance warnings in NY

Before the tornadoes hit New York, advance warnings by National weather service went out. People were advised to stay indoors and many outdoor events were cancelled. For instance
Albany canceled the evening show of an outdoor jazz festival, while US Open tennis championships had to postpone the sport event.

NY properties hit by tornado

Many properties in Queens and Brooklyn were hit by the storms. Fences and windows were broken while thousands of residential properties lost power after the second tornado passed New York city. Luckily, there are no reports of any deaths in New York, but the storm killed four people so far, including one child in Oklahoma on Friday.
