Many cities around the world have it. Now New York gets a new area where no cars are allowed. 6 1/2 Avenue in Midtown, NY, are going to be a carfree zone 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. New York City Department of Transportation (NYC dot) encourage more walking and new 6 1/2 Av is the result.

Other cities with pedestrian areas

Many major cities have popular districts where no cars are allowed, such as Calle Florida in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Strøget in Copenhagen (Denmark) and Trafalgar Square in London. While this new Avenue is considerable smaller than above mentioned walking streets, it might still be a popular addition to central New York. Google maps already recognise the new street so if you want to find your way there, it’s very simple.

Where is 6 1/2 Av located?

The norther boarder is 57th Street and it’s located in between 6th and 7th Avenues from 51st to 57th street, covered around prestige law firms, luxury hotels and popular restaurants.
