Staten Island, often referred to as New York’s dump, is set to get the world’s biggest ferris wheel. The new tourist attraction will be around 190 meters (625 ft) tall and might help improving the forgotten borough. Mayor Bloomberg estimate the New York wheel can attract around 5 million visitors a year. Among the other benefits of the new ferries wheel in New York are the fact that several major regeneration projects will take place around Staten Island harbour. Perhaps we even get a subway to Staten Island in time for the new attraction? The ferries wheel in Staten Island will cost £142 million ($US 230 million) to build according to recent estimates.
