Major credit card providers Visa, Mastercard, American Express and banks have agreed to pay retailers over £3.83 billion ($US 6 billion) to settle a long-running legal battle that alleged the card issuers conspired to fix the fees that stores pay to accept credit cards. However, the interesting part is what’s going to happen after the settlement?

NY shops allowed charging extra for credit card purchases

The case has been classified as one of the largest antitrust settlements in U.S. history, seen as a major victory for merchants that have long complained about the billions of dollars in so-called “swipe” or “interchange” fees that they pay to banks for purchases made using credit cards. As part of the settlement, announced late Friday, stores from Macys to Tiffany will be allowed to charge customers more if they pay using a plastic card.

Banks might lower transaction fees

But at a time when shoppers increasingly use credit and debit cards, merchants will face a dilemma: Whether to charge shoppers extra for using credit cards, and if so, how to do so without annoying them.

Banking analysts now expect the case might finally lead to banks lowering the transaction fees involved in shopping, which would be a victory for both New York shops and shoppers.

The new shopping mall in Brooklyn, New York, has created different reactions from citizen in the area. The suburban mall in outer NY is to be finished in 2014 and the estimated cost is $300 million (£193 million). It is built by prestige properties developers and stretch out 780,000 square foot.

This mall will be the first suburban-style mall to be completed in New York since 40 years. The mall will create jobs and some where people can go they predicted that there are around 1.4 million people living around the 10 mile radius of the mall.

If you live in Bronx you might be wondering what will happen to the J.C Penny at the Bay plaza well that shopping centre will be attached to the new mall. If you think there will be a lot of traffic at the centre there will be 230 busses that will be stopping at the new mall every day.

The shopping mall in strongly supported by J.C. Penny and Macy’s. Two of the biggest fashion shops around the area. There are a lot of benefits there will be 2,000 jobs for constructing this giant project and then 1,700 permanent jobs. Shops that are in talks right now to lease apace at the new mall are: H&M, the Gap, Express and Aeropostale.

Macy’s get on board Lil Wayne’s Trufit Clothing

Lil Wayne with his success of millions of singles and albums sold around the world has made a partnership with a leading department store in New York, Macy’s. The singer wants to add his Trukfit brand in every Macy’s store out there. Fans of Lil Wayne will soon be able to buy multiple clothes from the Trunkfit collection; signature t-shirts, caps, hoodies and sweatshirts.

What is Trunkfit?

Trunkfit is clothing lines that opened in January 2012. It’s mainly about the image and looks; adding adds pop culture to the shirts and other clothing labels.

Lil Wayne wants to make an appearance with his new collection by coming into Macy’s and signing t-shirts. He will be there with Stevie Williams, a professional skateboarder. His clothing line is also available at the same department store.

The rappers new album, Tha Character IV, was recently released and can be bought at his website and from iTunes. If it’s available at Macy’s is still not confirmed.
